The Industry Summit is a cornerstone event of SF Music Week that brings together artists, industry professionals, policy makers and thought leaders for a full day of conversations, panels, and talks focused on the state of the industry in the Bay Area. The Summit provides a platform to explore key issues affecting the ecosystem, while also offering insights from prominent figures in the scene. We aim to foster collaboration, address challenges facing the industry, and spark meaningful partnerships that help strengthen and grow our vibrant music community.

    RAPPER & PRODUCER

    P-Lo is a multi-platinum songwriter/producer who is lauded as one of the architects of the modern West Coast sound. The Bay Area born Filipino-American rapper is a clear example that sticking to your own thing and doubling down on yourself makes you irreplaceable.

    Solidifying his "Face of the Bay' status, P-Lo has become an ambassador for the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, & San Jose Earthquakes. Though a staple of northern California rap and sports culture, his reputation as a party starter is known on a national scale in light of placements on the soundtracks for Space Jam 2: A New Legacy, and Insecure, scored campaigns for McDonalds, Walmart, Toyota, and Wingstop, and is also a mainstay on the soundtracks for NBA 2K and Madden.

This panel brings together some of San Francisco’s leading independent venues owners for a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and innovations shaping the city’s live music landscape. From rising costs and shifting audience habits to economic pressures, creative programming, and new operational models, this conversation explores what it takes to keep SF’s live music venues thriving.

    Gabe Docto

    Gabriel Docto began his career as a stagehand at Berkeley’s Greek Theater in 2012 and has since built a career rooted in advocacy and leadership within live music. He played a key role in opening August Hall, a 1,000-capacity venue in San Francisco, where he now serves as Director of Operations. In 2020, Gabriel co-founded the San Francisco Venue Coalition and helped launch the Venue Recovery Fund, providing critical support to independent venues during the pandemic. He later helped establish the California Chapter of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA CA), contributing to initiatives including the California Venues Grant Program and the Type 90 Liquor License, and continues to advocate for policies that strengthen and sustain California’s nightlife and independent venue ecosystem.

After pivoting from nonprofit journalism in 2021, she held roles at The Chapel SF, Space Agency, and Anniversary Group. A longtime DJ known as DJ Tylawave, she has been spinning vinyl around the Bay Area for over 16 years and has opened for artists including Thee Sacred Souls, Lady Wray, and Fantastic Negrito, with appearances at venues such as El Rio, The Chapel, SFMOMA, and the UC Theatre.

    Radio has always been the first love of Tshego's life, and she considers independent radio and music journalism an essential part of the eco-system that allows artists and the communities who support them to thrive in the Bay Area and beyond.
